Paradise Mine by Ronna Gage

Title: Paradise Mine
Author: Ronna Gage
Release Date: January 13, 2011
Publisher: Siren Publishing
Genre: Erotic Romance

Rae Anne Jamison and Landy Laurent have the kind of love most people envy--that is, except for Rae Anne's father, a high-powered political figure in Texas. But she and Landy ignore her father’s complaints and focus on their upcoming wedding, planning it for when Landy returns from the newly declared Operation Desert Shield.

Lonely and depressed without him, Rae Anne clings to a preplanned vacation in tropical paradise with him in a year, but when she receives word that he is missing in action and presumed dead, all hope is shattered.

After a few years, she gives up on finding an everlasting love and the life she had planned, and retreats to the open sea. On her sabbatical, she comes face to face with the love of her heart, who returns with less than a little happiness to see her. His eyes shine with anger, and the evidence of a festering wound he's desperately trying to hide is covered by the walls around his heart. If love endures all things, will time really heal all their wounds?

Welcome to Sizzling Releases, Ronna. It's been a while since we've chatted.
Thank you so much for having me. It is good to be back.

What is your Sizzling Release?
Paradise Mine

What is Paradise Mine all about?
It is the story of Rae Anne and Landy; two people from different sides of the social classes that fall in love in high school. He wants to make something of himself so he joins the Marines right out of school. She hears he was in an accident and is told that he is MIA/POW. Devastated by the news, she tries to find him. After years of searching, she realizes she must get on with her own life. Ten years later they are reunited, but the happy reunion is anything but. Stranded on an island, they must now, mend their broken trust and find out the truth, which hopefully will help them regain a new kind of love.

That sounds like my wildest fantasy. How did you come up with the idea?
Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep, so I think of these little stories to help me, and this was one of them.

As a multi-published author, what advice do you have for those just beginning a career as a writer?
If you are published, be patient. You have to build a fan base and that can take up to five years. Just like any new career endeavor.

If you are waiting to be published, tighten up and polish that manuscript. This is a fickle business. What maybe hot today, can get no attention tomorrow. Always write. Get a critique partner…a good one that won’t tell you what you want to hear, but will make this the best possible book ever.

Tell the readers about your backlist.
Paradise Mine is my ninth book. You can find my books at

Silver Publishing offers In the Christmas Spirit

What are you working on now?
I have two in the works right now. One Love, Three Hearts and Walking in the Shadows.

Do you have an evil day job, and if you do, how do you find time to write?
I do have a day job; I substitute for my school district. I write on days off and in the evening. I can now promote at night while I am sitting with the family—I got a laptop for Christmas.

Do you have a favorite character you’ve written but still think about?
Yes, I have to say I really like Rae Anne right now. I hope to be a lot like her.

What does your family and friends think about you being a published author?
One friend said she used me as a claim to fame. I thought that was so cute. Thanks Diane.

January is a brand new month of a brand new year. How did you celebrate New Year's Eve?
I went to sleep. I spent the time with my family and then went to bed an hour before midnight.

When we were younger, my husband and I did the midnight kiss, the toast with champagne, and confetti. Now, we have Mimosas the next day, kiss when we wake up, and don’t even try to throw shredded paper in my house. I go nuts.

That sounds like a great way to welcome a new year! Thank you so much for being here.
Thank you for having me.

Is there anything else you’d like the readers to know?
One of my goals for this year is to be on the top twenty Best Seller’s List for all of my publishers. If you have some ideas I would love to hear them.

And before we go, can we get a juicy excerpt from Paradise Mine?

You bet. This one is nice.

Excerpt from Paradise Mine:
Rae Anne jerked to a sitting position. Several loud noises rousted her out of a deep sleep. “What the hell?” She sat in bed and listened for another sound, or crash to reach her ears. “God, please help me.”
It’s at times like these I wish I had a dog, a gun, or even a bat. Amos assured her this afternoon that no one would bother her if she stayed on the yacht alone this evening.
Footsteps creaked above her.
Frantically, she stumbled out of bed and searched the room for a weapon, anything of use to protect herself. Thankfully, the light from the dock provided sufficient lighting inside the stateroom for her to get around without tripping and stumbling in the unfamiliar surroundings.
She found the mop she used to clean up the shower leak. That’s another thing I have to deal with before we leave tomorrow. She grabbed the mop up by the handle and brought it closer to her body. Testing the weight, she let it out a few inches from her person. “It has some heaviness, but what else?”
The second scan of the room revealed the emergency kit. She ran to the cabinet, retrieved the box from the storage compartment, and opened it. Inside, she found six flares and a gun. “What are you going to do with these Rae Anne?” She lifted the flare gun and loaded it with a single flare. “Knock him over the head with the mop handle, and then shoot him in the ass with the flares?” She rolled her eyes at the ridiculous notion. Heavy footsteps crept above her. “This isn’t a moment to take lightly. You’re under invasion and right now anything will do to get you out of here alive.” Where the heck is that captain when you need him? “Men!”
The footsteps on the upper deck stopped. She almost willed her gaze to penetrate the ceiling to locate him.Where is he? Quiet and slow in her escape from the stateroom, Rae Anne hugged the wall in the shadows. I wish I had someone. The soft cotton of her pajamas warmed her against the chill she felt. To fight my battles with a clear head. Rae Anne rounded the corner, a man sat at the helm. What is he going to do, take my boat? Adrenaline surged in her, a result of the instinct to protect herself and the boat. She raised the heavy mop handle high as she could. At a moment like this, I wished Landy were here. In one swift move she hit the intruder on the head.
He fell out of the chair and landed on the floor on his side clutching his head. She turned on the desk lamp. The trespasser rolled over, and Rae Anne stumbled back screaming—too stupefied to move. She stood by the desk, gawking at what could only be a hallucination. After all, she did wish Landy was there to protect her.
* * * *

“What the fuck?” The throbbing pain in his head had nothing to do with inebriation, but a good hit by a strong force. Thank God the screaming stopped. He concentrated on his surroundings. Heavy breathing came from near the desk, where just a few seconds ago he had looked over the itinerary for the next two days. Who in hell would hit me over the head? “Listen, I’m going to lift my arms up very slowly, I need to know one thing. Are you armed?” Landy raised his hands at a snail’s pace as he said he’d do. Any sudden moves could get his head bashed in. “What did you hit me with?”
“Landy, is that you or are─are you a ghost?”

Dignity Takes A Holiday by Rick R. Reed

Title: Dignity Takes a Holiday
Author: Rick R. Reed
Release Date: January 17, 2010
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Genre: M/M Romance/Romantic Comedy
Buy Links:

Pete Thickwhistle doesn’t live what one might call a charmed life. At age forty-seven, he’s a flamboyant gay man who believes no one knows he’s gay, still living at home with his harpy of a mother. Worse, he’s still a virgin, longing to find just the right man to make his life complete. Pete’s an upbeat kind of guy, yet he’s never learned that the answer to his motto “What could possibly go wrong?” is always: “Everything.”

Pete’s road to love and happiness is full of potholes, yet he never tires of searching, despite job losses, weight battles, clothing faux pas, and disastrous vacations, parties, and dating debacles. Pete is the ultimate underdog living a television situation comedy, one named Dignity Takes a Holiday.

Welcome to Sizzling Releases, Rick. It's a pleasure to have you as my guest. Your new book was just released. What is Dignity Takes a Holiday all about?
It’s probably going to be the most twisted, over-the-top love story you’ve ever read. It’s not your typical m/m romance, since it’s about an overweight, middle-aged gay man looking for love and happiness and getting himself caught up in all sorts of misadventures. But I think it’s kind of a sweet story, despite its often bawdy humor, and I believe that in Pete Thickwhistle, readers will find a unique hero and one that they may even identify with.

That sounds very funny. How did you come up with the idea?
There’s a part in the book where yet another awful fate has befallen Pete and the book says, “What could he do but laugh?” And I think that’s the guiding principle behind Dignity Takes a Holiday--that laughter in the face of adversity is often the best, and most appropriate, response. I wanted to write a book that was not only funny, but showed that not all gay men are alike. Pete Thickwhistle is definitely an original.

You are a prolific author. How many books have you written?
Dignity Takes a Holiday will make 18 books in print. I have more than that, when you factor in shorter, ebook-only works. The number is probably closer to 30.

Do you have a personal favorite?
That’s like asking a mother which of her children is her favorite. She probably has an answer but would never actually voice it. I do admit to having a soft spot in my heart for Out on the Net (Amber Quill Press/Amber Allure), a story told in blog form about a young man accepting he’s gay moments before his wedding to a woman and leaving her at the altar. His search for love and self-acceptance are, by turns, comic and heart-wrenching. And the premise of the book, if not the actual details, strikes very close to my own life.

I read your book Bashed and found it very touching. Have you personally experienced this type of hatred in your life?
I came very close, but averted it. But my near-miss with gay bashing did inspire me to write Bashed.

What are you working on now?
I just finished a novella for Amber Quill Press/Amber Allure called How I Met My Man (it will be out in February). The book revolves around a masquerade party, a stalker, a serial killer, and figuring out who is the one who wants to love you and who is the one who wants to kill you, before it’s too late.

That one sounds like it's right up my alley! Do you have an evil day job? If so, how do you find time to write?
For the past several years, I wrote and edited full time. Last summer, I took a part time job as a communications consultant for a healthcare company. It’s the best of both worlds: I have a steady paycheck and still have time to write.

Do you have a favorite character you’ve written and still think about?
Pete Thickwhistle in Dignity Takes a Holiday. He’s irrepressible and, no matter how bad things go for him, still believes that his knight in shining armor is out there waiting for him.

January is a brand new month of a brand new year. How did you celebrate New Year's Eve?
My partner and I have a regular tradition of going out for a really nice, expensive dinner, then coming home and sharing a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, and then…well, that’s none of your business.

Do you sing Auld Lang Syne at midnight?
If you’d ever heard me sing, you’d know without asking that the answer to that is: no.

Champagne at midnight?
Oui, oui!

The midnight kiss—someone special or everyone in sight?
Someone special…for the last eight New Year’s. I have done the “everyone in sight” thing in the past and have to say it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

Thank you so much for being here. Is there anything else you’d like the readers to know?
I am only two and a half feet tall!

LOL Before we go, can we get a juicy excerpt from Dignity Takes a Holiday?
You sure can. And just so you know, this is kind of “not safe for work.”

Pete spent the next two weeks in a fruitless job search. No one wanted to hire him (“Personally, I can't blame them,” Helen told him). He was feeling particularly tense when he emerged, looking guiltily up and down the street, from L'Amour Adult Playhouse. He wore a trench coat bought at Goodwill, giant sunglasses and a beat-up fedora he had hung on to from the 1960s. Concealed beneath the trench coat was a #36, The Kamikaze, dildo. The dildo was eight inches long and six inches around. Pete both feared and desired the object. He prayed Mother would never discover its existence.
A few days later, Pete was starving as he watched Helen at the stove, stirring a big, steaming pot. He wiped away a line of drool that had formed at the corner of his mouth.
“There ya go!” Helen had done the plate up beautifully: with a sprig of parsley and a pat of butter positioned just so on Pete's heap of corn. Steam rose from the hot dog, hidden beneath its toppings, and Pete breathed it in, savoring the aroma of the warm roll and all the trimmings. “I made it just like at the restaurant. I hope you like it...honey.” Helen was grinning.
“Why are you being so nice to me?” Pete picked up the warm bun, opened wide, bit down and found he could not bite through the hot dog. Brushing aside all the trimmings, Pete discovered that there was not a hot dog encased in the bun, but the dildo he had so carefully hidden. There still remained the impression of his teeth in the flesh–colored rubber.
Pete covered his mouth, eyes wide and staring. He suppressed a gag at the back of his throat. And yet again, heat radiated upward from his neck to envelope his face and ears. The heat was not from the steam.
Helen stood at the stove, watching her son and snickering.
“Mother, how could you?”
“I was cleaning your room.”
“You had no right.”
“I had every right. This is my house and I intend to keep it clean.”
Pete was flabbergasted. “I'm entitled to a little privacy, don't you think? I am 47 years old.”
“You're sick. If that's what you need your privacy for, then you're sick.”
“Mother! I'm a grown man and I have my needs.”
Helen waved her son's remarks away. “There are plenty of men around if it's fucking you need.”
“Mother! I never told you I liked men!”
“Well...” Helen snickered, ignoring Pete’s ‘coming out’ remark. He supposed, dejectedly, it hadn’t needed saying. “Where'd you get that thing, anyway?”
Helen was still chuckling to herself as Pete rushed from the room in tears. Helen doubled over in renewed laughter when she heard the slam of her son's bedroom door. She picked up the dildo, shaking her head and staring at it. “Christ Almighty.”

Sappho's Sisters by Berengaria Brown

Title: Sappho’s Sisters
Author: Berengaria Brown
Release Date: January 2, 2011
Publisher: Logical-Lust
Genre: Erotic/Regency/Lesbian

Blurb: Lady Eustacia Lumley is the only child of the Earl of Wentworth. It is her duty to marry well and ensure the succession.

Margaret Durrell is the fourth daughter of a gently born, but near penniless vicar. She has no option but to marry a man who can provide for her and possibly for some of her sisters as well.

Best friends since their days at Miss Marcomb's Academy for Young Ladies, both young women are very interested in Sappho's poetry and ideas. One evening while visiting the Wentworth estate, Margaret has a headache and Eustacia offers to massage her scalp. This act of kindness leads them into an encounter they both find very enjoyable.

The two young women fall deeply in love, but is there any hope for them? Or will they both have to conform to the rigid rules of Regency society?

Welcome to Sizzling Releases, Berengaria Brown. I’m so pleased you could join me today. What is your Sizzling Release?
Sappho’s Sisters

What is Sappho’s Sisters all about?
I am fascinated by the way in which women in an era like the Regency period, where they had no rights at all, managed to find love and happiness.

Lady Eustacia ought to marry and ensure the succession. Margaret ought to marry, or stay home and care for her father. Margaret has no money to provide for herself. But neither woman wants to live the traditional woman’s role. Yet both manage to circumvent society and find happiness together.

That sounds very provocative. How did you come up with the idea?
This is my second Regency-set lesbian erotic novel. After the first one, Lady Caroline’s Reward, I felt there were still more stories to be told. Eustacia and Margaret wanted their happy ending too!

As a multi-published author, what advice do you have for those just beginning a career as a writer?
Keep reading, keep writing, keep submitting. But read the submissions instructions and follow them to the best of your ability. Only submit to houses that publish the type of book you write.

Tell the readers about your backlist.
I have 20 books out now with two more due to release this month.

Most of my books are two men/one woman ménage, but I also have three lesbian erotica, and five male/male romances, and one straight one man/one woman book. So I like to think there is something there for every taste.

What are you working on now?
I haven’t started writing yet, but am thinking through the ideas for my first F/F/M story. All my other menages are M/M/M, M/M/F or M/F/M.

Do you have an evil day job, and if you do, how do you find time to write?
Sadly, like most authors, the day job is part of my life. I write in the evenings and on weekends and holidays. I also carry my laptop wherever I go, so I can write down ideas as they occur to me. Of course I would never, ever, write at work *cough*

Do you have a favorite character you’ve written but still think about?
Fortunately, once a character’s story has been told, they leave my head. But there are always more characters yelling at me to work on their book.

January is a brand new month of a brand new year. How did you celebrate New Year's Eve?
I watched the fireworks at midnight with friends. And yes, there was champagne. And singing alternative lyrics to well-known songs.

Thank you so much for being here. Is there anything else you’d like the readers to know?
I love to hear from readers and always answer emails. Berengariabrown AT gmail DOT com

And before we go, can we get a juicy excerpt from Sappho’s Sisters?

The next evening, Margaret crept into Eustacia’s room the moment Eustacia’s maid left. “Show me how to pleasure you.”
“The first step is to learn how to pleasure yourself so you know what feels good.” Eustacia picked up the handheld looking glass and pulled her night rail off. Margaret got undressed too.
Eustacia sat on the bed with her legs spread wide apart, her feet planted flat on the mattress. She angled the mirror to display her cunny, then, with her spare hand, she opened her nether lips, displaying her channel. She moved her finger up higher and exposed her nub, and began stroking it. They both watched as it got redder and larger.
Eustacia scooped up some of the cream that had started to drip from her cunny and rubbed it over the hot little bud as she swirled a finger back and forth across it.
Margaret moved behind her and pressed the palms of her hands over Eustacia’s breasts, lifting each globe and weighing it in her hand, before rubbing her fingers across the nipples. “I already knew how good this feels.”
Her fingers rolling and tweaking her friend’s nipples, Margaret continued to watch in the mirror as Eustacia slid two fingers deep inside her channel, then returned to circling and pressing her nub.
Sweat was beading on Eustacia’s forehead as they both continued to tease and excite her. Eustacia started to pant and thrust three fingers hard into her cunny, twisting and turning them to scrape the walls of her channel. Margaret redoubled her gentle efforts on Eustacia’s breasts, smoothing and stroking the globes, and fondling the nipples.
“Pinch them,” ordered Eustacia.
Margaret did, giving a sharp little nip to both nipples simultaneously. Eustacia dug her thumbnail into her nubbin and cream flooded from her cunny as she sighed and shook in release.
Margaret leaned forward and kissed both breasts, sucking each nipple into her mouth briefly before walking to the end of the bed, lying between Eustacia’s thighs, and licking her cream.
“You taste different from me. Saltier, and maybe a little more tart,” she said before licking some more. When Eustacia was clean, Margaret slid up the bed and kissed her, sharing her flavor with her.
“Oh my, that is exciting,” Margaret whispered.
But Eustacia wasn’t finished. She rolled Margaret underneath her, then sat up and straddled her hips. Still kissing her, Eustacia took a length of her hair and teased the younger woman’s breasts with it, letting it flow across them, swirl around them, and stroke them.
All the while, she rubbed her mons against Margaret’s, pressing forward from time to time so their nubbins were pushed together.
Sweat sprang out on her brow again as Margaret thrust her hips up urgently into Eustacia’s so their bodies could rub against each other more.
Eustacia lay flat on Margaret, pressing her torso hard onto the other woman’s, and began kissing her passionately, thrusting her tongue deep into the warm, wet cavern of Margaret’s mouth, then sucking her tongue before lowering her head to play with the younger woman’s breasts.
Margaret’s hands grabbed at Eustacia, rolling her nipples between her fingers, rubbing her shoulders, clasping her bottom, and all the while, thrusting their hips together in a clashing dance of urgency.
Eustacia slid a finger around underneath Margaret and thrust it far inside her anus. With a deep sigh, Margaret exploded under her, thrashing and shaking with the force of her release. Their hips locked together and Eustacia came again too, riding the wave of passion with her friend.
