Welcome to Sizzling Releases, Xavier. I’m so pleased you could join me today. What is your Sizzling Release?
Christmas Eve at the Powers That be Cafe

What is Christmas Eve at the Powers That be Cafe all about?
At it’s core it is about two men connecting at a time when their world is coming apart.  You could also say it’s about a hot beefy café owner who seduces a farm boy turned soldier…you pick!

This is your first published work, which must be very exciting for you. What was it like for you to write your first book and get published?
Umm, stunning, it’s only taken 33 years!  I have never written romance before, I’m a horror writer who somehow took the wrong turn at Albuquerque, but I’m loving the ride.

I know this book is series, who are the other authors?
Amber Kell, Aeryn Traxx, and Andi Anderson are just a few distinguished cohorts in The 25 Days of Christmas.

Why did you decide on this series as your first published work?
It’s not only an seires but a Christmas one at that!  What possessed me to write a Christmas Romance with a Happily Ever After I have no idea…I’m blaming the Gods!

You have a blog called Foodery & Sexery…from someone who knows. I read your Thanksgiving post and found it not only informative, but hilarious. I humor something you use in all your writing?
Thanks!  You may be the only one who read it and I’m grateful. I don’t know that I write funny things, but hell, I never thought I’d write romance, maybe comedy is next. I come from a witty, sarcastic family. I will say I use humor all the time in my life.  After all I’ve helped people in wheelchairs buy sex machines.  I have to laugh.

It’s December again! I can’t believe Christmas is upon us all ready. What are your holiday plans?
To celebrate Yule with my witchy friends and go to as many parties as I can.

Do you go all out with decorating?
That’s what domestic slaves are for…no, I hate decorating and wrapping gifts even more, I am known to make people wrap their own gifts!

Real tree or fake?
Fake--white feather tree with blue and pink decorations…very masculine

Lots of lights on the house or subdued lighting?
Subdued unless I manage to find a Christmas Slave elf to hang them…hmm…I smell a story there…

Store bought ornaments or do you make your own?
It’s a crazy mix of weirdo baubles, some vintage, some new and I think there is one that a Nun made somewhere…

I love drinking the instant hot cider mix with Buttershots. What's your favorite holiday drink?
Hot apple cider with Vodka.  I saw a hot Scandavian cook on PBS whip it up before she plunged into a steaming hot tub at the end of a frozen lake, that’s all I needed, I was sold!

What would be the perfect Christmas gift for you?
A vacation to Santa Fe with the dude who makes my heart skip a beat, oh and of course, world peace.

Thank you so much for being here. Is there anything else you’d like the readers to know?
Pressure makes diamonds…and keep an eye out for my Sex Advice Column coming soon to examiner.com

And here's a juicy excerpt from Christmas Eve at the Powers That be Cafe

Tonight though he felt the need return. He wanted to touch and to be touched, wanted some comfort and even as he thought it his cock began to grow and press against the zipper of his white cook's pants. He let one of his hands travel down over the front of his crotch, and the sensation of his hand meeting his swelling cock made him groan aloud. He quickly covered his mouth with the bottle and replaced the need that was growing inside him with the dulling liquid. As he reached for a clean t-shirt and put it on, he realized there was someone standing in front of the small window that looked into his office.

Ben is more than willing to live out Celeste’s fantasies as well as a few of his own. But their holiday romance turns out to be more than either of them bargained for when the connection between them deepens. Being with Celeste forces Ben to deal with his own baggage in a way he never expected.

As the vacation draws to a close, Celeste realizes she wants so much more from Ben than a holiday fling, but can she convince him that their future together is worth the risk?

Welcome to Sizzling Releases, Lauren Fraser. I’m so pleased you could join me today. What is your Sizzling Release?
My new release is called Sex, Sin and Surf it’s available Dec10th from Ellora’s Cave

What is Sex, Sin and Surf all about?
It’s about a woman who goes on holiday with her best friends in the hopes that the time away with the girls will be just what she needs to relax and de-stress, what she finds is a much better stress reducer. LOL The opportunity to have a fling with a sexy younger man doesn’t come along all that often, and she decides to enjoy a little holiday romance.  But plans change and she realizes she wants so much more than a fling with her younger man.

That sounds sexy and inspiring for us "older" women! How did you come up with the idea?
When we were on holidays in Mexico this past spring we went to Sayulita (the little town that I used in the book), to go surfing.  It seemed like the perfect place to set a holiday fling type story. It’s gorgeous and rural, great surfing.

As a multi-published author, what advice do you have for those just beginning a career as a writer?
Write, write, write. The more stories you write the more you will find your voice and discover what type of stories you like to write. Also the more you write the more you’ll learn what works and doesn’t work for you.

Tell the readers about your backlist.
I have 5 books on my backlist.
The Geek Next Door which came out on November 15th from Liquid Silver Books
Aged to Perfection available at Total E-Bound
Longing for Kayla available from Ellora’s Cave
Letting Go available from Freya’s Bower
Undercover Attraction available from Freya’s Bower

If you check out my website you can see blurbs, excerpts and buy links for each book.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on another menage story although this one is m/f/m unlike Longing for Kayla which was m/m/f.

Do you have an evil day job, if so, how do you find time to write?
I did until very recently, now I am home pursuing my writing and I am so thrilled to be able to focus on my writing fulltime.

What is your creative process?
I need to have the right music and a cup of tea handy when I write. I’m a plotter by nature so I have everything fairly planned out before I sit down to write. I’d love to say that because it’s all plotted out the words just jump onto the page but unfortunately, some days that’s just not true. LOL

What does your family and friends think about you being a published author?
They are excited and incredibly supportive. I’m really blessed that none of them have a problem with the fact that I write erotic romance.

It’s December again! I can’t believe Christmas is upon us all ready. What are your holiday plans?
We’re hosting Christmas at our place this year, so I’ll have a full household with 10 for Christmas dinner. I love having a big family Christmas, so I’m really looking forward to it.

Do you go all out with decorating?
I do although my husband makes me wait until after American Thanksgiving, after that it’s fair game.

Real tree or fake?
If we are home for Christmas like we are this year then we have a real one. When it’s not our Christmas we have a fake one.

Lots of lights on the house or subdued lighting?
Fairly subdued, we certainly don’t have the Griswold house or anything. LOL

Store bought ornaments or do you make your own?
A combo of both. My kids have made a good chunk of our ornaments but we do have lots that we have purchased over the years.

Eggnog? With or without rum?
Gotta have eggnog but no rum. But I’d take some Kahlua.

What would be the perfect Christmas gift for you?
I think I’m getting it this year with my family coming for Christmas. It’s been a few years since I’ve had my parents, aunt and uncle and grandma all together at my house so I’m really excited about it.

Thank you so much for being here. Is there anything else you’d like the readers to know?
I guess just where you can find me. You already have my website but you can also find me on Twitter and Facebook too. I’d love you join me on both.

Thank you so much for having me as a guest today. It’s been fun.

And before we go, can we get a juicy excerpt from Sex, Sin and Surf?
Sure!

Hopping off the board, she waited for Ben to put it into the shallow water. “Straddle the board. When you feel like you are seated safely then get onto your knees, get your balance and stand up.”
Squeals off to the right drew her attention as Sarah tumbled off her board into the water again. Celeste bit her lip. She was so going to make an ass of herself. Having the sexy surf instructor to ogle didn’t seem like such a good idea now as she watched her friends make complete fools of themselves with their lack of coordination. She didn’t want to lose the flirtatious mood they’d built and making an ass of herself was definitely going to kill it.
He touched her elbow. “Hop on. You’ll be fine.”
She took a deep breath and eased her way onto the board. Seating it between her legs, she raised her body up then back down, getting a feel for the board and how it moved in the water. When she finally felt as if she was ready, she looked at Ben for her next instruction.
The look on his face made her mouth go dry. Moisture pooled in her core and she shifted on the board. The movements immediately made her think about being in the same position but with her surf instructor between her thighs. A groan rumbled from his chest. Her nipples beaded tightly at the raw, animalistic sound.
Never before had she had such an instant reaction to someone. Her entire body went on alert, begging to be taken. She didn’t even care that he was a stranger and this was a crowded beach. The pull was so strong.
Not knowing what else to do, she flipped off the board into the cold water. The shock of the water surrounding her brought her out of her sensual fog. She stood, pushed her hair back from her face and glanced at Ben with a shy smile.
How pathetic? She was forty-one years old and practically had an orgasm from him looking at her. It had definitely been too long since she’d had sex. Clearly the toys just weren’t cutting it.
He smiled back at her with an amused smirk. “Better?”
“Yep, I think so.”
He laughed and gripped the edge of the board. “Let’s try that again but maybe try to get up on your knees quicker this time.”
Heat slid across her neck and face. God, she really was pathetic. “Right.”
Celeste grabbed the board, threw her leg over the edge and quickly got up onto her knees. When she had a good hold, she shifted her weight. Ben groaned beside her. She glanced back over her shoulder to where he stood behind the board. “What?”
“That’s not any better.” His eyes were almost black, his jaw clenched, and he shifted his body in the water. “Try to stand up.”
Wow. She swallowed. He wanted her. Holy shit.
She pushed herself upright. When she started to lose her balance, she instinctively spread her feet wider. Finally she felt steady on the board. The waves rocked the board beneath her, but she managed to stay on. Delighted by her victory, she squealed.
Ben laughed. “Good job.” He handed her the paddle. “Use this for balance if you need to.” A bigger wave came toward them, and he let go of the board. When it rocked her, she stuck the paddle in the water to stay upright.
“Did you see that? I didn’t fall off.”
He grinned. “I saw. Now see if you can start to paddle yourself.”
She glided through the water, staying away from the area of the beach with the larger swells.
“All right, let’s go deeper,” Ben said, gripping the edge of the board.
Her nipples tightened again at the double meaning of his words. Damn, she was like a sex-starved fiend around this man. He grinned at her with a wicked smile that told her he knew exactly what effect he had on her.
“You ready to take a ride with me?” he asked her.
Anytime.

Thunder Mountain Brides: The Outlaw Schoolteacher - Edith by Amanda A. Brooks

Title: Thunder Mountain Brides: The Outlaw Schoolteacher - Edith
Author: Amanda A. Brooks
Release Date: December 8, 2010
Publisher: Amanda A. Brooks/CreateSpace.com
Genre: historical/sweet romance/western

Blurb: Thunder Mountain was Edith’s plan to escape The Outlaw Benton Gang. Her love for Zachary stood to ruin everything.

Welcome to Sizzling Releases, Amanda. I’m so pleased you could join me today. What is your Sizzling Release?
Thank you, Rie.  My Sizzling Release is Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Outlaw Schoolteacher - Edith, my first book of a ten-book western romance series.

What is Thunder Mountain Brides: The Outlaw Schoolteacher - Edith all about?
Edith is about an outlaw who comes to the picturesque town of Thunder Mountain, Colorado to rob the town’s bank. In order to do so, she poses as the town’s schoolteacher. She is a cold-hearted woman who allows nothing to get in her way - until she meets Zachary. Ironically, he happens to be the president of the town’s bank. Zachary only cares about his bank - and his young daughter - until he meets Edith. But he must choose between Edith and his bank.

That sounds very interesting. How did you come up with the idea?
After writing my unpublished historical novel Serviced Love, set in 1743, I had major writer’s block. No matter how hard I tried to write, I just couldn’t do it. I had all these ideas - historical and contemporary - but I didn’t like what I wrote. One night, I went to see High Noon on the big screen. That’s the night that changed my life forever, and for the better. I knew I wanted to write a western.  Although I loved westerns, one of my favorites being Tombstone, it took High Noon to make me realize I wanted to write one. When I was creating Edith and Zachary’s story, I loosely based the idea for their story around the movie Original Sin - which stars Angelina Jolie and Antonio Banderas. I was trying to come up with the plot for Edith and Zachary, and just happened to be watching the DVD one night. In Original Sin, Angelina’s character poses as Antonio’s character’s mail-order bride - she takes the place of the woman who was supposed to be his bride. I used the scene where we learn this as the foundation for my book, and made Edith a schoolteacher since my dream was to be a teacher, and because of Little House On The Prairie. Because Edith was an outlaw, and planned to rob the town’s bank, it was only natural that I made my hero, Zachary, president of the bank.
I know this is book number 1 in the series Thunder Mountain Brides. Did you begin writing with a series in mind, or did your muse take over?
Watching High Noon, my first thought was, I want to write a western. It was a no-brainer to make my western a series. I knew that a western town has all these characters whose stories are begging to be told. I first thought, I’ll write an eight-book series. But eight didn’t seem right. Ten sounded perfect. The first thing I did was name my heroines - first, middle, and last names. Then I plotted out their stories. Once I did that, I then focused on the heroes of my series.

This is your first published work, which must be very exciting for you. What was it like for you to write your first book and get published?
It is very exciting!  Writing Edith and Zachary was an amazing experience for me. I loved every minute. I hated to see it end, even though I had nine more books to write. While I’m very proud of my historical, and very sensual, novel Serviced Love, creating Edith and Zachary and my Thunder Mountain Brides series was more meaningful and personal. I put a lot of me into my characters, and I poured my heart and soul into this. It was never my intention to self-publish until I woke up one morning in the summer of 2009, and thought, I want to self-publish. I had been blogging my series, and suddenly, I wanted so badly to show my work to others. I chose to self-publish because it was the only way to have total control over my books and my cover art.

What are you working on now?
I finished Book 2. It is called Thunder Mountain Brides: Hidden Secrets - Agnes. I am now working on Book 3, which is called Thunder Mountain Brides: The Devil And The Lord - Danny.

Do you have an evil day job, if so, how do you find time to write?
I used to have evil day jobs until I found a job I love very much - working at a bookstore. I work in the DVD department – films, television, and music are my specialty. I write whenever I can - morning, night, whenever. I’m bad because I really need to work on Danny’s story. It’s hard when I’m putting the finishing touches on Edith’s story. And soon I'll have to work on finalizing Agnes' story. And, I will admit that the Internet distracts me. Evil Internet!

What is your creative process?
I use music to get in the mood. I write as if I’m (or the readers) watching a film. I listen to certain songs when writing certain scenes. It’s fun to decide what song will be perfect for a certain scene – like a saloon fight, for instance. When I am writing the hot love scene or beautiful love scenes, I find a beautiful song that fits the mood. It can either be classical or a beautiful pop or rock song.

What does your family and friends think about you being a published author?
My friends are so excited about my book. They have known since I was fourteen that I wrote. I have let them read some things, and they read my blog. They’re very excited that they get to read an actual book of mine. I have made many of my friends' characters in my stories. They really love that! And I’m very lucky to have friends who were willing to pose as my models for my covers. As for my family, I have kept this quiet. While they know I’m writing books and self-publishing, it’s bit a bit of a sore subject. My mom would prefer I write Children’s books and take writing classes, although she does ask when my book will be out. I feel like they think I’m wasting my time. I’m hoping my parents will love this book, and be very proud of me. My Aunt Jean in Oklahoma can’t wait to read it! As of today, though, I know my parents are very proud of me. I showed them my cover art, and they loved it. My mom keeps telling me my Grandma can't wait to read my book. They'd better buy a lot of copies!

It’s December again! I can’t believe Christmas is upon us all ready. What are your holiday plans?
I plan to be low-key this month; focus on promoting Edith, and relaxing with some holiday DVD's and films. We are going to Palm Desert at the end of the month. I know I'm bad, but I'm not doing Christmas cards this year. I will do e-cards. The holidays come too fast, and I don't want to get caught-up in the rush. I want to take it easy.

Do you go all out with decorating?
Now that I live in an apartment, I may get a small tree. But that's it.

Real tree or fake?
We have been using a small tree that gets stuck in a box and in the closet.  With a white sheet to look like snow, it does the trick.

Lots of lights on the house or subdued lighting?
Like I said, since I live in an apartment, there will be no decorations this year.  Maybe the tree and sheet. That's it.

Store bought ornaments or do you make your own?
We have special ornaments that we've had since the late 60's/early 70's. Some are made, some are bought. It's amazing they've survived all these years - what with numerous moves.

Eggnog? With or without rum?
Without rum. Not only do I hate alcohol, I am allergic to it.

What would be the perfect Christmas gift for you?
Besides people buying my book?  Hmm, that's my secret. I would also be happy with gift cards. That way, I can buy whatever I want.

Thank you so much for being here. Is there anything else you’d like the readers to know?
Thank you for inviting me, Rie. I just hope my readers love my story (s) as much as I do. I hope they think of my series as more than just a romance novel.  It’s about love and family and community. I hope they see it as an awesome western series - like Little House On The Prairie, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, and Bonanza. I hope they love the characters as much as I do - both the good ones and the evil ones.

And before we go, can we get a juicy excerpt from Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Outlaw Schoolteacher – Edith?
Be warned.  It is steamy.

EXCERPT:
While Edith took a tour of the now empty haunted stable, the sound of footsteps broke the silence. She turned to see Mr. Scalen standing in the doorway.
Why did he have to be so devastatingly handsome?
       Life was so damned unfair!
“Aren’t you supposed to be on the hayride with the children and the other parents, Mr. Scalen?”
       “My name is Zachary.”
“It is not appropriate for me to call you by your given name.”
Slowly walking toward her, he said, “Rules are made to be broken.”
       She looked into his eyes.
They were as black as night.
       As black as sin.
Moments passed before Edith broke eye contact. She crossed the stable, and climbed the ladder to the hayloft. She went to the opened doors, and stared out into the night that would soon be drenched with long-awaited rain.
Zachary followed her up to the hayloft, and stood behind her. He stared down at the top of her dark head for a moment before softly asking, “Don’t you agree, Edith?” He gently placed his hands on her shoulders.
Edith closed her eyes for a moment, took a deep breath, then turned toward him, and opened her eyes. She looked into his black eyes.
       His black soul.
       And then she kissed him.
He pulled her against him, and deepened the kiss. Her body melted into his.
When he finally broke the kiss, he smiled. The kiss had fogged her spectacles.
       “Don’t stop,” Edith whispered.
Zachary removed her spectacles, and tossed them into the hay. His voice husky with passion, he said, “Nothing on this earth could make me stop kissing you. Not even God, nor Satan, could make me stop wanting you.”
“Mr. Scalen, there’s something I need to tell you.”
Zachary took her face in his hands, lifting her chin so she would look him in the eyes. “Zachary. My name is Zachary. Say it!”
“Za- Zachary, there’s something I need to tell you.”
“Now is not the time for words, Edith. We only have a few precious moments before everyone returns from the hayride.”
He left the decision to continue this dangerous liaison to her. She knew she had to be strong, and walk away. If she didn’t, he would blame her.
       And he would hate her.
“M- make love to me, Za- Zachary,” she whispered.

Despite the danger lurking all around them, Cole finds himself drawn to Chloe unlike any woman before.  From her golden brown hair to her amber gold eyes, Cole realizes that just because he doesn’t think he is ready to claim his mate, doesn’t matter when just a look from her can set his blood on fire.

Welcome to Sizzling Releases, Chastity Bush. I’m so pleased you could join me today. What is your Sizzling Release?
My latest release is a paranormal romance entitled A Taste of Terror.

What is A Taste of Terror all about?
A Taste of Terror is about Cole Douglas. When Cole is sent to hunt down a rogue werewolf who has been turning young mortal women for fun, Cole thinks that this job will go off without a hitch like so many before. But when he is attacked by Chloe Dunn, a young nurse/newly turned werewolf, he discovers that not only is she a beautiful woman, she is his mate and the key to finding his rogue.

That sounds fascinating. I love the werewolf books. How did you come up with the idea?
I love almost anything to do with the paranormal/supernatural.  I have written one paranormal before but unfortunately that book landed in the hands of a shady publisher and I am currently fighting to get the rights back.  I loved writing that book so much that I could not resist writing another.  I wanted this story to be the best one I have written so far.  Dreaming up a macho hero and a sassy heroine was not hard for me this time around.  With a paranormal, you can do or make anyone into anything.

I know this is book number two in the Guard My Heart Series. Did you begin writing with a series in mind, or did your muse take over?
I kind of always knew that this would be a series. I was leery at first but once my muse took over it was inevitable. There will be at least three more in this series.

As a multi-published author, what advice do you have for those just beginning a career as a writer?
ALWAYS research the publisher you are submitting to. Unfortunately there are publishers out there who are only out to help themselves. And do not give up just because you are getting rejection letters. Unless you are one of the luckiest people alive, you will get rejections. Keep writing, someone will see the treasure that your writing is. It just takes time.

That is great advice. Tell the readers about your backlist.
Right now I have three in print, not counting A Taste of Terror. The Guarding of Eden is a contemporary romance while Savage Rescue is a historical romance and Guarding Temptation (which is the first in the Guard My Heart Series) is a paranormal romance.  Links to purchase my work can be found on my website.

What are you working on now?
I am always working on at least three or four different manuscripts at any given time.  Right now I am working on a western romance and about three other paranormals along with a contemporary romance. It is a lot but when an idea comes, I cannot let it pass by.

Do you have an evil day job, if so, how do you find time to write?
I am one of the fortunate ones who happens to be a full time housewife. Our two daughters are 10 and 6 and are in school all day while my husband is at work. That gives me time to write and take care of business while the house is quiet. But on the weekends…forget about it!

Being a wife and mom is definitely a full time job, if not quite so evil! What is your creative process?
I wing it. I come up with an idea, sit down at the computer and then jot down whatever comes out. I always have a general idea, I just don’t always know where it is going or how it is going to get there.

What does your family and friends think about you being a published author?
My husband is so proud of me. He is always telling me that I will be a bestseller on day. (How I hope he is right!) Our kids on the other hand could care less. They area like, “Oh, you wrote a book…cool.”  It is funny.

It’s December again! I can’t believe Christmas is upon us all ready. What are your holiday plans?
Shopping, shopping and shopping! My husband and I love to go Christmas shopping for our girls and each other.

Do you go all out with decorating?
Yes. Tree, lights, snowmen the works!

Real tree or fake?
Last year we had a real tree and it was beautiful but this year I think we are going back to a fake. It was such a mess with the needles in the carpet! I think that fake is the way to go for some things.

Lots of lights on the house or subdued lighting?
Lots of lights! I love Christmas!

Store bought ornaments or do you make your own?
Both. Our daughters come home every year with an abundance of ornaments and sometimes there are some at the stores that are too beautiful to pass up.

Eggnog? With or without rum?
With rum…everything is better with rum!

Ha-ha, I agree with that! What would be the perfect Christmas gift for you?
Wow, what a question. Honestly, as long as my kids and husband have a good Christmas, that is all that matters.
Now, if you are talking material possession, well then… I would say a pair of Converse All Star Chuck Taylors. I LOVE converse and am so excited when I get a new pair. The last pair I bought was hot pink with a electric blue tongue.

I love Converse too. It seems we have the same tastes! Thank you so much for being here. Is there anything else you’d like the readers to know?
This was so much fun! Thank you for the opportunity!
I love to hear from readers. If there are any questions or comments feel free to send me an email and I will get back to you ASAP!

And before we go, can we get a juicy excerpt from A Taste of Terror?
Sure!  Here you go!

Excerpt: A Taste of Terror
“Are you alright?”  He asked gently.
Setting up slowly, she reached up to feel the tender spot on the back of her head.
“Just a little sore, I think I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I’m more worried about you.” She said quickly, reaching out to pull what was left of his t-shirt away from the deep lacerations marring his chest.
“What the—,” The wounds she had seen him sustain were life threatening, she had been able to see his ribs through the deep gashes as he fought but now...
“They are almost gone?”  She wondered aloud.  “What in the hell are you?”  She asked in amazement as she rubbed the tips of her fingers across what looked like four fading scars.
Cole shivered under her tender touch.  Her fingertips gently brushing over the wounds to his chest   The heat of her touch burned through him, pleasure weaving its way throughout his body.  He had not ever experienced this kind of raw need for a woman, never felt the powerful desire for someone as he did for Chloe.
“Well?”  She asked with exasperation as she stood, placing her hands on her hips.
“Well what?”  He asked with confusion.  His mind still lost in the pleasure of her touch.
“What-are-you?”  She enunciated slowly.
Struggling to hide a smile, Cole stood, pulling what was left of his shirt over his head, tossing it into the trash can.
The irritation Chloe had been feeling fled her in an instant at the sight of Cole’s bare, already completely healed chest.  The taught tan skin called to her, begged her to reach out and touch it again.  To run her palms over the smooth skin displayed before her.
To explore every inch he had to offer.
“Do I meet your approval?”  Cole teased.
It was as if he could feel her eyes roaming his bare flesh, burning a trail over every inch they covered.
He could smell her need for him; he could see it in the expressions flickering across her face.  For a moment he was severely tempted to throw her to the ground and take her, to claim her but his good sense prevailed.  This was not the time and definitely not the place. Instead, the need to tease her won out.
Shaking her head, and the embarrassment she felt from being caught gawking at him like a randy school girl from her head, she frowned up at him.
“You’re a kind of an ass you know that?”  She stated bluntly.  Her golden eyes glittering in the bright lights.  She had just saved his life and he would not even tell her what the hell he was?  Irritation slithered within her.
She was serious; he noted and fought to hide the smile that tugged at the corners of his mouth.
“So, I have been told.”
“I take it that you are not going to answer my question?”
“Not here.”
“Well, seeing as I need some answers as to what just happened here,” she said waving her hands at the mess surrounding them, “where will you tell me what I need to know?”
He had intended on telling her about his assignment and what part she played in it.  Had even intended to tell her what he was and answer whatever it was that she needed to know about her own kind.
That had been his reason for coming to the hospital to begin with.  He had first thought to catch her at her home but it seemed after watching her apartment for nearly a week, that she was at work more than she was at home.
“Your place.”
Nodding her head she agreed.
“There is only one problem.”
“What is that?”  He asked.
“How are we both going to get out of here?  I’m covered with blood and you are half naked.  Don’t you think that that might draw some attention?”
Looking around the room, he spotted a door along the farthest wall with a large exit sign hanging above it.
“Where does this lead?”  He asked, looking back over his shoulder at her.
“It’s a fire exit; my guess would be that it leads out onto…a fire escape.”  She finished sarcastically.
“You are a bit of a smartass, you know that?”
“So, I have been told.” She repeated his earlier words.
Smiling he nodded.  “Well then.” he said, striding back to stand in front of her.
His chest only inches from hers, “Let’s go.”
Reaching down, he hooked his arm around her waist, lifting her over his shoulder.
“What in the hell are you doing?”  She squealed.
“We need to move fast.”  He answered lightly, as if that explained why she was currently slung over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
“I can walk.”  She complained, wriggling about atop his shoulder.
The feel of her thighs beneath his palms sent heat straight to his groin.  The sight of her firm ass next to his face, wriggling about as he carried her to the exit tortured him, begged him to reach up and squeeze the firm globes in his hands.
Shaking his head, he fought the urge.
“I know that.”  He began, “But we will have to jump down at least one story, can you jump that far without hurting yourself yet?”
Stilling, she shook her head.  “I haven’t tried.”  She admitted reluctantly.
Was that something that she could do?
She really should have tested herself to learn all of the things she could do now that she was a werewolf but had not.  Embarrassment and doubt clouded her mind to what she had become.  Only the need to hunt forced her to believe that she was something other than human.  There was still a very large part of her that leaned toward the possibility that she had gone crazy.
“Can you?” she asked quietly, “Jump that far, I mean.”
Stepping out onto the fire escape, he tightened his grip.
“Hold on.”

Welcome to Sizzling Releases, K.M. I’m so pleased you could join me today. What is your Sizzling Release?
Defiant Dancer.

What is Defiant Dancer all about?
This is the third book in a series that follows the turbulent transformation of a young alien soldier into her people’s next leader. In Defiant Dancer I take a closer look at the impact on both her personal life, as well as the lives of those around her.  Mikial, my main character, is the leader her race needs, but not the one they want. We pesky humans are back, and doing everything the wrong way as usual. Of course Mikial’s people, as well as herself, are hardly perfect in their decision making either. Into this muddle I add both romance and a vicious lover’s triangle just to make things even more precarious.

That sounds exciting. How did you come up with the idea?
Defiant Dancer came about because there was too many loose ties to bind ahead of the final book in the series – I have the entire saga pretty much mapped out in my head and realized that I couldn’t stuff everything into one book, and readers would be clawing at me if I just skipped over things like an anticipated wedding of a best friend as well as Mikial finally finding herself someone more interested in her than in her title.

I know this is book number three in the Dancer series. Did you begin writing with a series in mind, or did your muse take over?
I had this story that spanned quite a few years and events – it became clear to me from the start that I was in for a series. I had aimed for a trilogy, but now have a “trilogy of four”.

As a multi-published author, what advice do you have for those just beginning a career as a writer?
Learn your craft ahead of everything else. Don’t assume that a High School English class is going to cut it for you. Take the college courses. Read the books. Practice. If your novel isn’t good enough for a publisher to accept it, chances are that just throwing the novel out on the web with a “buy“ button won’t work either.

Tell the readers about your backlist.
I have the first two novels in the “Dancer” series – Blade Dancer and Rogue Dancer.  Both were EPIC E-Book Award Finalists.

I also wrote a spin-off book for those who were intrigued by some back-story in Rogue Dancer. The novel is Waiting Weapon, and is about an archeologist who digs up his own alien past...and wishes he hadn’t.

Wow, that's quite an accomplishment. What are you working on now?
That would be Battle Dancer – ostensibly the final book in my “Dancer” series.  It is scheduled for a December 1st release in 2011.

You're becoming quite the prolific writer. Do you have an evil day job, if so, how do you find time to write?
Yeah, I am a software engineer by trade, so I end up scheduling my writing around weekends and Thursday nights. Sometimes it is very hard to write when you come home mentally wringed out, but novels never write themselves.

What is your creative process?
A methodical one. I will list out ideas, order them into a chapter outline, and then produce a “literal regurgitation” that is the first of four drafts ahead of submission. The third draft is the most fun, because that is where my characters really come out and play. Second draft is for plots, and the fourth is the line-edited version coming out of my reading group.

That's really detailed. What does your family and friends think about you being a published author?
They think it is awesome! I tend to agree.

It’s December again! I can’t believe Christmas is upon us all ready. What are your holiday plans?
We have a family reunion coming up, a trip down to the Rio Grande Valley, ye olde tree and house decorating, and ...yes, Christmas too!

Do you go all out with decorating?
Not too crazy – I like to light up the bushes with those new LED lights that look like the size of the old bulbs I remember from my childhood.

Real tree or fake?
Absolutely real and always chosen by my daughter.

Lots of lights on the house or subdued lighting?
The living room is seriously lit up.

Store bought ornaments or do you make your own?
All bought, but with a special one each year from Hallmark (trying for Dr. Who this year).

Eggnog? With or without rum?
Rum without the eggnog (can’t stand that stuff).  Actually, I am more opt to produce a nice German ice wine.

What would be the perfect Christmas gift for you?
Family. Everything else can be bought anytime.

It's been a real pleasure chatting with you. Thank you so much for being here. Is there anything else you’d like the readers to know?
I am going to attempt some video trailers...wish me luck!

I'll wish you luck, but I am quite sure you will succeed in that area the same way you have in writing. Before we go, can we get a juicy excerpt from Defiant Dancer?
Yes, you can.

 Defiant Dancer excerpt:
          “Your pet human just escaped.”
Mikial's amber eyes closed for a moment. Do you have to keep calling him that? She relaxed her grip on the exercise rope and dropped to the hardwood floor. Her muscular six-hand frame easily absorbed the fall. Knees bent, Mikial pulled back an unruly swipe of cinnamon hair and glared at the Lead of her Surian Guard. “Ryan Donald is Earth's Ambassador... providing I can ever get him back to his home again. He's nobody's pet, Nenya, least of all mine.” She stood, wiping a rivulet of sweat from her light mocha cheeks. Nenya's irreverence bordered on contempt... as usual.
Nenya clasped her hands in hollow contrition. “Forgive me, my Suria. Your... Ambassador just escaped.”
And to think we came from the same background. Like Nenya, she had been born into the Datha combat sect as a rare female Dathia, and still had the claws to prove it. Neither of them were within a stone's throw of petite, most of their curves owed more to predatory physiques than shapely breasts and hips. They were both barely into their twenties, and unmarried, but that was where the similarities ended. Mikial envied Nenya's ebony skin, having lost much of her own pigmentation in an unasked for metamorphosis from which Surias emerged.
Grabbing a towel from its rack next to a series of kick bags, Mikial wiped her face and pressed on with the conversation. “So how did Ryan manage to escape? Kinset has nothing but water around it, and I don't think he is that good a swimmer.”
Nenya smiled. “He stole your airsail. If you hurry, you can see him flying overhead.”
Mikial stared at her, mouth sagging. “He... took my airsail?”

And don't miss the first two books in this series!
